ActUpKU coalition calls for KUnity to be disqualified over alleged election violations

University of Kansas Student Senate coalition ActUpKU filed a list of violations Thursday against the KUnity coalition and called for KUnity to be disqualified from the election to decide the next student body president and vice president. The complaint, filed by ActUpKU Student Body Vice Presidential candidate Ethan Roark, alleged that KUnity violated the Senate’s election rules against using food or drink to campaign in a recent Instagram post.  In the post, KUnity advertised students who wore a campaign button to three different Lawrence establishments could receive a discount or free food in return. ActUpKU candidates Niya McAdoo and Ethan Roark filed an election violation against KUnity candidates Andrew Moore and Will Cook, siting that KUnity s partnership with businesses across Lawrence was in direct violation of SSRR Article 7, Section 5.3.
