Kuala Lumpur: Former Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor has filed an appeal against a 12-month jail sentence and fine of RM2 million imposed by the High Court Monday after finding him guilty of accepting bribe of RM2 million from a businessman.
His lawyer, Datuk Tan Hock Chuan, when contacted by reporters, said the notice of appeal was filed Monday through the online judicial system (e-filing).
Meanwhile, deputy public prosecutor Julia Ibrahim said whether or not the prosecution would file an appeal over the sentence would be made by the Attorney General’s Chambers within 14 days from the date of judgement.

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 22 ― Former Federal Territories minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Mansor s conviction in a corruption trial yesterday will further restore public confidence in the country’s legal system, lawyers said.
Tengku Adnan s case follows former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s conviction in July on all seven charges of power abuse and misappropriation of RM42 million from 1Malaysia Development Berhad’s (1MDB) former subsidiary SRC International Sdn Bhd.

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 22): Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor has filed a notice of appeal in the High Court after being found guilty of corruption involving RM2 million.
Tengku Adnan’s lawyer Datuk Tan Hock Chuan confirmed this when contacted by reporters, adding that the notice of appeal was filed yesterday via the court s e-filing system.
Ku Nan, as he is better known, was yesterday found guilty under Section 165 of the Penal Code of receiving kickbacks amounting to RM2 million from Aset Kayamas Sdn Bhd (AKSB) managing director Tan Sri Chai Kin Kong during his term as the federal territories minister.
