Prohibitory orders have been clamped and a holiday has been announced on Monday for schools and colleges in Shivamogga district of Karnataka following the murder of 23-year-old office-bearer of the Bajarang Dal in the communally sensitive city.
Many more students have joined the ongoing boycott of crucial II PUC practical exams that have started on Monday for not being allowed to wear hijab in the classrooms.
The Karnataka High Court bench, hearing petitions on hijab row, on Friday directed the state government to see to it that its interim order is not violated.
"Yesterday my Principal called me and told me that classes must be conducted without a hijab or any religious symbols", wrote the lecturer in her resignation letter
