The flags were created on the fall of 2020 by a diverse collection of community members in the Cougar Creek neighborhood funded through a Town of Canmore grant, conceived and coordinated by local artist Fonda Sparks. The Building Neighbourhoods Builds Community project, supported by the Town of Canmore Canmore’s Economic Development Pandemic Response Plan, said its goal is to encourage artists through the challenges of COVID-19, and to celebrate the diversity of culture and the diversity of people living in Canmore.
