NEWTON After weeks of discussions and hours of comments about which anti-hate or pro-respect resolution the county should adopt, Board of County Commissioners on Wednesday night approved a simply worded one that calls for respect, security and freedom.
Every person has a right to safety, security, freedom, opportunity and, just as importantly, respect, reads the resolution that passed unanimously. We, here in Sussex County, believe in the words written in the Declaration of Independence, the resolution states. The resolution also includes the all men are created equal quote from the Declaration of Independence with a slight change. The word women was added to read all men and women are created equal.
