A former South Carolina fugitive will spend the rest of his life, and then some, in Pennsylvania prisons after the 2018 rape and murder of 87-year-old Virginia Barbour, an Adams County judge decided Wednesday.
Kristopher Gartrell, 50, was also deemed to be a Sexually Violent Predator at his sentencing hearing on Wednesday, a designation given by the state Sexual Offender Assessment Board, according to Adams County District Attorney Brian Sinnett.
Barbour was attacked when Gartrell went into her unlocked home in November 2018, in the 100 block of Peach Glen Idaville Road in Huntington Township, according to police.
