Details were revealed earlier this week about the International Cycling Union’s (UCI) new Track Champions League series, with the governing body seeking to enhance the profile of the track discipline.
The series has been in the works for a while, with the UCI signing an agreement with Discovery last March to develop the product. Management, television production and distribution of the new series were handed over to Global Cycling Network (GCN), with Eurosport’s dedicated event promotion division, Eurosport Events, taking a leading role over an initial eight-year period.
This week’s virtual launch - held across two locations in Paris and Bath - was promising. Representatives from the UCI, Eurosport Events and GCN doing a good job of explaining what they want to achieve and why.

Six round UCI Track Champions League unveiled to boost profile of track cycling Tuesday, 18 May 2021
The International Cycling Union (UCI) and Eurosport Events have unveiled plans for the UCI Track Champions League, with a condensed six-round series aimed at providing greater visibility to track cycling.
Plans for series were initially announced last March, with the UCI Track Champions League name, logo, and ambassadors revealed in November.
The UCI and Eurosport Events confirmed the hosts of the inaugural season during a launch event today, which was streamed from Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines near Paris and Bath in the United Kingdom.
The series is scheduled to begin at Mallorca in Spain on November 6, with riders competing at the 5,200-capacity Velòdrom Illes Balears.

Tommy Hilfiger recruits Aussie Paralympian for new Adaptive range

PVH-Corp brand Tommy Hilfiger has launched its spring 21 Tommy Hilfiger Adaptive collection, with Australian Paralympian Rheed McCracken starring in the campaign.
The campaign showcases the innovative Adaptive line of clothing, which is designed to make dressing easier for adults and children with disabilities.
McCracken stars in the global campaign alongside German Olympic cyclist Kristina Vogel, Vietnamese-American Paralympic swimmer and track runner Haven Shepherd, former American football player Isaiah Pead, American paddle boarder Jonas Letieri, UK models Ashley Young and Teddy B, and Chinese-American models and sisters Mila and Elora.
