Cicero family left with waterlogged hole after contractor took $115K in renovation disaster

Cicero, NY – Andy Keegan and Kristen Kopf, both North Syracuse middle school music teachers, sank nearly $200,000 into their “forever” home in Cicero.
Multiple renovations had transformed a modest 1940s ranch on Button Road into a 2,500-square-foot dream house with a music studio, sun porch, updated kitchen and redone bathrooms.
In 2015, they had one more wish: replacing a sealed-off chimney with a picture window. It was supposed to cost $6,000.
But a spiraling series of events left the lifelong educators with an unbelievable result: the bulk of their newly renovated home demolished, replaced by a 15-foot, water-filled hole so dangerous it was condemned by the town of Cicero.
