At 5:56 p.m. May 9, the National Weather Service alerted the Lowndes County Emergency Management Agency of a severe thunderstorm bearing down on Columbus.
“It’s from one thing to another,” Lowndes County Emergency Management Director Cindy Lawrence told The Dispatch Wednesday. “First it was ice, now it’s water.”
Folks in western Oktibbeha County are also drying out after flood water swept through the Sturgis area. Oktibbeha County EMA said this home on Morgantown Road had four feet of water inside of it last night.
