KATHMANDU, June 17: Hydropower promoters from the private sector have urgently appealed to the government to grant them permission to trade electricity, citing their eligibility to engage in both domestic and international electricity trading.
Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Minister Shakti Bahadur Basnet has called upon the private sector to prepare for engaging in the electricity business.
KATHMANDU, June 15: President of the Independent Power Producers' Association-Nepal (IPPAN) Krishna Prasad Acharya said on Thursday that the government should pave the way for the private sector to trade electricity. The private sector has had a large investment in the energy sector, he argued, while speaking at the inaugural session of the 21st annual general meeting of IPPAN today.
