A group of Green Bay citizens filed a complaint against the city for using a private grant to help run elections Thursday as Republican state lawmakers sought to change how such funds are used in the future.
The efforts may go nowhere. The complaint was brought by an attorney who has lost three lawsuits over the issue in recent months and the legislation faces a likely veto from Democratic Gov. Tony Evers if it gets to him.
But the issue is one of several election-related matters that have captured the attention of Republicans after Donald Trump narrowly lost Wisconsin in the November presidential race.

Mark Zuckerberg had undue influence in Green Bay’s November 2020 election, according to the commission’s administrator.
State Republicans, including some lawmakers, have repeatedly raised concerns about grant money that Green Bay and other Wisconsin cities received from a group funded by Zuckerberg to help administer elections.
But testifying Wednesday before the state Assembly’s election committee, WEC Administrator
