The Meridian Fire Department is working to improve response times in part by building two new fire stations. The department is also focusing on firefighter health in these new stations.
Meridian Fire Station #8 and the city's first Police Precinct will be built in tandem, creating a "campus-like feel" between the two northwest Meridian facilities
Fire departments began push-in ceremonies in the late 1800's, when crews used horses to pull steamer engines. Truck-31 will be housed at Meridian Fire Station #1
Fire Station #7 is designed to reduce Meridian firefighter's carcinogen exposure. The 11,500 square-foot facility is planned to be fully operational by fall of 2023.
