The European Commission announced on Friday that Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia have reached an agreement to permit the transit of Ukrainian food exports, which had previously been temporarily banned due to farmer protests.
Poland and Hungary have imposed a temporary ban on food grain from Ukraine until 30 June. Warsaw took the decision to soothe angry local farmers, who complain of a glut of Ukrainian grain that is driving down prices.
