He said the testimonies of the second witness for the Petitioner John Dramani Mahama in the ongoing Election Petition, Dr Michael Kpessah-Whyte against the 1
st Respondent, Jean Adukwei Mensa can be trusted.
Dr Michael Kpessah-Whyte maintained in Court that the Chairperson of the 1
st Respondent, Jean Adukwei Mensa, tricked them [he and Rojo Mettle Nunoo] into leaving the strong room purposely to declare the presidential results.
During cross-examination by the lawyer for the 1
st respondent, Dr Kpessah-Whyte said Jean Mensa instructed them to go and confer with John Mahama regarding some election-related issue and come back to the strong room.
The second witness for the petitioner in the ongoing presidential election petition at the Supreme Court, Kpessah Whyte, following a rigorous cross-examination by the counsel for the 1st respondent, was subjected to a barrage of questions by members of the bench.
The witness claimed he and his co-agent for the petitioner were asked to leave the Electoral Commission’s strong room before the declaration of the 2020 presidential results. He was subsequently criticised by one of the seven judges of shirking responsibility and failing to protect the interest of Mahama.
According to Kpessa Whyte however, he and Rojo Mettle Nunoo were instructed by the Electoral Commissioner, Madam Jean Mensa to go and consult the petitioner (John Dramani Mahama) about some irregularities he had complained about earlier.

Defending his statement in court whiles being interrogated by lawyer Justin Amenuvor, Dr Kpessah-White said he sees no reason for cooking up such story and even wonder why he will leave his car and other working tools at the Commission before going to meet Mahama as instructed if indeed they left on their own volition.

The second witness for John Dramani Mahama in the Election Petition, Dr. Michael Kpessah-Whyte has insisted that the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Adukwei Mensa deceived him and Rojo Mettle Nunoo to leave the Commission’s strong room before the declaration of the presidential election results on December 9, 2021.
According to him, the EC instructed them to leave the strong room to go and confer with John Mahama on some election-related issues and return to the strong room before the declaration of the presidential results.

The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress, Sammy Gyamfi has described as ‘brilliant’ the performance of Dr. Michael Kpessah Whyte at Tuesday’s hearing in the Supreme Court.
Kpessa Whyte is the second of two witnesses presented by petitioner in the ongoing Election Petition case, John Dramani Mahama.
Taking his turn in the witness box today, he explained to Court how he and his colleague, Rojo Mettle Nunoo were absent from the Electoral Commission’s ‘strong room’ at its Headquarters, during the final collation of results.
