LENOX — For the second consecutive summer, there will be no James Taylor concert at Tanglewood. Although a 50 percent increase in capacity for Tanglewood allows 9,000 tickets to be sold for all performances, Taylor s Aug. 31 performance has been postponed to July 4, 2022. That’s because this season’s show had been rescheduled from July 4, 2020, and more than 15,000 tickets had been sold for that date. “I’m disappointed and frustrated to have to announce the postponement of my August 31 concert at Tanglewood,” Taylor said in a statement for The Eagle and his website, also relayed by the Boston Symphony Orchestra. “At this point, more than 15,000 people have bought tickets for our August show and trying to organize the displacement of over 6,000 ticket holders is an impossible task,” Taylor said. “Who loses their seat and how do we accommodate them?

(Fred Collins | BSO photo) Facebook Share LENOX The Boston Symphony Orchestra today unveiled its plans for an abbreviated six-week summer season at Tanglewood with performances with a number of familiar faces returning to the Koussevitzky Music Shed. The COVID-19 pandemic forced the BSO last year to cancel the 2020 season. The BSO had not skipped a season in the Berkshires since World War II when no performances were staged between 1942 and 1945. In a typical season, Tanglewood draws 340,000 people and generates more than $100 million in economic activity annually to the Berkshires.
