Three villages in Dharmapuri and one in Erode remain inaccessible to vehicles During every election, three hill hamlets in Dharmapuri district and one in Erode get polling materials delivered by donkeys. For years, these villages have remained inaccessible to vehicles, and can be reached only on foot. As in the past, donkeys on Monday began to trek up to help in the election process.
In the Anthiyur Assembly constituency, election officials, two donkeys and a few local people trekked a nine-km jungle terrain to ferry electronic voting machines (EVMs), Voter verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) units and other materials to Kathirimalai village that has 134 votes.
