At least 35 people have died in landslides and floods triggered by heavy rains in southern India’s Kerala state, officials said on Monday, as rescuers scoured for survivors in muddy debris and the military flies in emergency supplies.
According to the Hindustan Times newspaper, some 13 people died in the Kottayam District, nine citizens were killed in the Idukki District, while two more are still missing
State Revenue Minister K Rajan said the rescue workers have recovered 15 bodies from the debris and slush of the landslides that hit various places of Idukki and Kottayam districts.
