The Nifty 50 settled 0.08% lower at 22,434, while Sensex shed 0.04% to 73,877. Nifty 50 formed a small positive candle on the daily chart with a gap down opening and with an upper shadow. Technically this pattern indicates broader range movement in the market near all-time highs, said Nagaraj Shetti, senior technical research analyst at HDFC Securities. The MACD showed bearish signs on the counters of P&G, and Caplin Point among others.
Sensex dropped 0.15% to settle at 73,904. Nifty dipped 9 points to 22,453.30. Nifty formed back-to-back Doji patterns on the daily chart, typically indicating a pause before the next move.
​Benchmark Sensex climbed 526 points while Nifty closed above the 22,100 level on Wednesday following buying in banking, auto and oil shares after positive macro data. The 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 0.73% to settle at 72,996 with 18 of its stocks advancing and 12 closing lower.
