On February 9, 2018, the state government constituted a two-member commission, headed by retired High Court Justice JN Patel for probing into the cause of the Koregaon Bhima violence.
Widespread violence broke out in Koregaon Bhima area on January 1, 2018, when a few lakh people, mainly the Ambedkarites, had gathered to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the battle between the British Army and Peshwa forces.
Replying to advocate Hiray, Harshali Potdar said she was aware that the accused in the Shaikh murder case were acquitted. When Hiray asked whether she made any attempt to appeal against the judgment, Potdar said, “No”.
The two-member commission, headed by retired judge Justice J N Patel, was formed by the state government for probing into the causes of violence in the Koregaon Bhima area on January 1, 2018.
