On the occasion of the birth centenary of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, known as Bangladesh s Father of the Nation, an autobiography of Rahman translated into Korean has been published.
Rahman is the founding father of independent Bangladesh, often called Bangabandhu, which means Friend of Bengal in the Bengali language. He was assassinated by his opposition in 1975, but is still remembered by the people of Bangladesh for his legacy.

The Embassy of Bangladesh in Korea commemorated Bangladesh s founding father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, March 7, the day when he delivered a landmark speech that propelled the country s independence 40 years ago.
The 19-minute speech inspired the then-people of East Pakistan to rise up against West Pakistan whose leaders exploited the East economically, leading to popular grievances, according to the embassy.

The Embassy of Bangladesh in Korea opened this year with three events, starting with a language course for Bangladeshi children here followed by a celebration in honor of the nation s founding father and an entrepreneurship program.
All three were held online in accordance with social distancing measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The Embassy of Bangladesh in Korea honored outstanding Bangladesh workers and Korean employers this month in celebration of the U.N.-designated International Migrants Day.
Observed on every Dec. 18, International Migrants Day aims to raise awareness about the challenges and difficulties of international migration.
Under Korea s Employment Permit System (EPS), Bangladesh has for years been supplying laborers for manufacturing, farming, fishing and other industries that have been struggling to find manual laborers. More than 10,000 Bangladeshi workers are here.
