As the Spain Park Jaguars led 31-19 with 4:40 left in the third quarter, the Chelsea Hornets were left searching for answers going into an extended delay for an injured official.
While the Spain Park Jaguars wrapped up the one seed in area play on Tuesday, Jan. 23, their matchup with the Hewitt-Trussville Huskies on Friday, Jan. 26 still had stakes–with a win, the Jags would finish area play with a perfect 6-0 record.
The Spain Park Jaguars have played in many big games in past years. When they did it again on Tuesday, Jan. 23, they played like they had been there before, claiming the Class 7A, Area 6 regular season title for the first time since 2015.
The Spain Park Jaguars lurked until they were ready to strike, and when they did in the fourth quarter, they did so in a big way to claim a rivalry win.
It may have come a day later than Spain Park would have wanted, but the Jaguars are undefeated through the first half of their area schedule after defeating the Hewitt-Trussville Huskies.
