The 116-lot subdivision proposed for Providence Road abutting the Seven Sisters development will not only adversely affect the Seven Sisters development and those homes along Providence Road, but also the Ponder Point and Whiskey Jack communities and the future residents of the project.
The applicant's traffic study needs to be revised. It fails to reveal the deteriorating traffic conditions at Kootenai Bay Road, Seven Sisters Drive, and Highway 200 intersection, one-fourth mile west of Providence Road. A potential commercial business being planned at the corner of Seven Sisters Drive and Highway 200 that may require ingress/egress from and to Highway 200 hasn't been considered in the study.
Monday is the last day for public input regarding an upcoming center turn lane construction project on Kootenai Bay Road and Highway 200.
A traffic analysis done in 2016 determined the amount of traffic at the intersection warrants a safer space for left-turning cars to wait for ebbs in traffic. The 2016 survey also analyzed vehicle-turning counts and projected traffic growth to determine whether any right turn lanes were needed at this intersection, but data did not support the pressing need for any at that time.
