Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Commencement exercises for the University of Alaska Southeast will be virtual for the Juneau, Sitka, and Ketchikan campuses and available at 5 p.m. Friday.
The student speaker for the Juneau commencement will be Anastasia Erickson who will receive a Bachelor of Arts in English degree.
Pauline Kookesh Duncan will receive an Honorary Doctorate of Education. She is described by UAS as a greatly respected teacher and culture bearer, who created an invaluable legacy of teaching materials that merge Tlingit culture and language with Alaska educational standards. She will also speak during the Juneau commencement.
Gordon Jackson of Kake and Juneau and Elizabeth Nelson of Ketchikan will be presented meritorious service awards.
