U.S. private equity firm buys Latvian drone maker UAV Factory
U.S.-based private equity firm AE Industrial Partners (AEI) has acquired Latvian drone maker UAV Factory, a global leader in the tactical Unmanned Aerial Vehicle and Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance technology markets, for an undisclosed sum.
UAV Factory will be a new standalone unmanned technology platform for AEI, as the firm looks to further invest in this fast-growing market, it said.
The 2009-founded UAV Factory has delivered more than 300 aircraft to defense, intelligence, and commercial customers in more than 55 countries.
“UAV Factory’s engineering and technical capabilities, combined with its proven and growing set of technology solutions, are truly differentiated in the market,” Jeffrey Hart, Principal at AEI, said in a statement.

One of the government market’s more serial private equity buyers has made its first deal of the calendar year that creates a new platform focused on unmanned technology.
AE Industrial Partners said Thursday it has acquired UAV Factory, a provider of tactical unmanned aircraft and technologies for ISR intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. Terms were undisclosed, while UAV Factory will be a standalone unmanned tech platform for AEI to further invest in that market.
Founded in 2009 and headquartered in Latvia, UAV Factory designs and makes the vehicles for government and commercial customers in at least 55 countries. The company has a second location in Bend, Oregon.
