Members of the Association of University Teachers (AUT) at Kongunadu Arts and Science College have sent an objection letter regarding the college’s plan to introduce a sex education paper in the 2024-2025 academic year. They oppose the introduction of a paper entitled ‘SOGIESC’ (sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, and sex characteristics) studies under non-major elective papers, replacing the women’s rights paper without proper approval. No syllabus or contents for the 'SOGIESC' studies have been provided, urging the higher education department to halt the move.
