The iconic Gulmarg Gondola, a two-phase cable car in the Himalayas, is the highest and longest-running tourist cable car globally and the first in Asia. Located near the Indo-Pak Line of Control at 13,500 ft, it is the flagship attraction of Kashmir tourism, running from the Pir Panjal range, 50 km from Srinagar. It recorded over a million tourists and Rs 110 crore in revenue in 2023-24. Despite past disturbances and the abrogation of Article 370, tourism surged, with 18 million visitors in 2022. The gondola, a venture by the J&K government and French firm Pomagalski, offers stunning views and enhanced visitor facilities.
Srinagar: More than nine lakh tourists have enjoyed the Gondola ride at Gulmarg this year and the figure is expected to cross more than million mark by the end of this year, according to an official statement. Tourists describe the experience as surreal and alluring, it said.
Managed and operated by J&K Cable Car Corporation, the Gulmarg Gondola is the flagship
