Detection systems installed on roads throughout Kingdom

The installation of automatic detection cameras and road weighing pads by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport to detect overloaded vehicles and other traffic violations continues on roads throughout the Kingdom.
The ministry discussed the system with tech companies and relevant institutions during a meeting on the improvement project of National Road 5 on May 29.

Ministry set to resume vehicle checks across country

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport would resume technical inspection services from May 10 for vehicles to ensure they are in line with Covid-19 preventive health rules.
In a notice dated May 7, the ministry said all vehicle owners could have their vehicles inspected at the nearest inspection centre.
Ministry spokesman Pal Chandara told The Post on May 9 that nationwide vehicle inspection centres were already set up in line with the preventative health rules. Owners must have their vehicles checked to avoid any future fines or administrative measures.

Cambodia averages seven road accidents, five road deaths per day

A total of 536 people were killed and 1,315 people injured in 939 road accidents across the country from January 1 to May 8, according to a National Police report.
During that period, the police stopped 77,288 vehicles that had violated the Road Traffic Law, including 56,679 motorcycles and 20,609 cars.
On May 8 alone, six road accidents occurred, killing five people and injuring three, two of whom were in severe in condition, the report said.
Heng Chan Theary, director of the National Police’s public order and traffic police department, vouched for the accuracy of these statistics as compiled from police reports nationwide.
