Green River Fire Department Firefighters Recognized for Dedication and Contributions

GREEN RIVER With the restrictions that were put into place for COVID-19 Coronavirus from Governor Mark Gordon, The Green River Fire Department (GRFD) decided to cancel its annual awards and recognition banquet. However, there are still several people on the GRFD who deserve recognition for their excellent contribution to both the fire department and the community. Tom Murphy, Kole Burnett, Lieutenant Austin Rider, and Captain John P. Apostolope were all recognized and honored for their dedication to the GRFD and to the Green River community. Tom Murphy – Firefighter/Fire Prevention Tom Murphy was awarded with the Green River Fire Department’s Best of the Best award for the most training hours. Tom Murphy had 383 training hours for the 2020 year. This was accomplished with the COVID-19 restrictions that were put into place and the GRFD cancelling all in person trainings for several months.
