GUWAHATI: 50-year-old Bodo tribal leader Biswajit Daimary, who was elected as 21st speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly on Friday is a son of a farmer and a mahut, who washed glasses in a tea stall to help the family in his school days, a student leader and one of the architects of peace in Bodo heartland.

He resigned from Rajya Sabha to contest the assembly election on BJP ticket from Paneri constituency, which he won.
