GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has directed the police to unearth cause of death of two minor girls whose bodies were found hanging from a tree under mysterious circumstances at a village in Kokrajhar district on Friday last. The chief minister had met the family members of the two minor girls at the village on Sunday.
After spending time with the family members of the deceased girls, Sarma said the government was not taking the death of the two girls from an indigenous community lightly.
Preliminary investigation by the police has inidcated that the two sisters ended their lives. However, their family claims the girls were raped and killed.
