The attack by Islamic militants at a gas plant facility in Algeria had the worst consequences, with a large number of deaths, including 10 Japanese. The Japanese fatalities are all related to the company, including employees of JGC, a major plant engineering company. A gas treatment facility in In Amenas in the southeast and a nearby private dormitory were attacked, resulting in many casualties, including JGC employees involved in plant facility construction. At the time of the incident, 78 JGC personnel (including employees of partner companies) were dispatched to the site (17 Japanese and 61 foreigners). More than half of the 17 Japanese, 10 died. As for foreigners, 6 out of 61 died, and the safety of 1 has not yet been confirmed as of noon on the 25th.
