The British royals are hoping to dodge another colonialism row by keeping the famed Kohinoor diamond out of the public eye at the coronation of King Charles III today.
When King Charles III is coronated, the ceremony will feature several jewels that have become synonymous with the British Royal Family. Some have histories tied to violence and colonialism.
In the 18th century, the royal title changed from “King of England” to “King of the United Kingdom”, as successive Acts of Union joined England, Scotland and Ireland into one political unit.
