The Kodiak Emergency Operations Center updated its COVID-19 case count Monday, reporting six new residential cases and one non-residential travel-related case.
According to the update, the number of residential cases in Kodiak stands at 42, down from 44 on Friday.Â
The six new local cases came from tests conducted on Saturday. One was linked to travel, one from a close contact of a previously reported case, and four are considered community transmission. The non-residential case was tested Wednesday.Â
There were no reports of local hospitalizations as of Monday.
The surge in COVID-19 cases mirrors those occurring throughout the state of Alaska, including Anchorage, Sitka and Juneau.
