From gemstones to jewel tones and camouflage to canvas, art inspires.
Visitors to The Childrenâs Museum of Indianapolis will have two new visiting artists to teach and inspire as the museum introduces artists Deonna Craig and Koda Witsken to serve as Visiting Artists from June 2021 through May 2022.
It is all part of the Lechleiter Indiana Visiting Artist Fund. The program is made possible by The White Oak Foundation, Sarah and John Lechleiter. This philanthropic gift allows artists with ties to Indiana to bring fine arts to children and families through unique, hands-on experiences at The Childrenâs Museum.
The first opportunity to meet and learn from the artists is July 23-24 to visit with Deonna Craig and July 28-29 to visit with Koda Witsken. The Visiting Artists will be onsite regularly, sharing their time and talent with families and children.

Earlier this year, protests erupted globally to end police brutality and persistent racial injustice against Black people. The cruel death of 46-year old George Floyd, inflicted by Minneapolis police on May 25, was witnessed by many on news and social media platforms, causing angst and heartache. The protests continued with the public demanding justice for the Black lives taken by the hands of police. In response to the protests, the Arts Council of Indianapolis commissioned several Indianapolis-based artists of color to create 22 murals on boarded-up storefronts in Downtown Indy. The Murals for Racial Justice Project began in June, 2020.
Mt. Comfort Corridor getting distinctive signs
12/30/20 6:45 AM
HANCOCK COUNTY Signs will soon go up branding the quickly growing Mt. Comfort Corridor in western Hancock County and marking its different sections.
The corridor spans 13 miles along Mt. Comfort Road from U.S. 52 to the south to County Road 1000N to the north. It has attracted large buildings housing logistical operations, including a recently finished one for Amazon as well as another underway that will be Walmart’s biggest distribution facility in the country. Developers are constructing other large buildings on speculation that tenants will quickly be secured. Hancock Regional Hospital has new facilities along the corridor near I-70 and U.S. 52, with plans to draw more developments to both areas.
