District records 1,088 new COVID-19 cases and 2,332 recoveries Ernakulam saw 1,088 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, with a test positivity rate (TPR) of 10.04%.
For testing, 10,834 samples were collected. The TPR for the district has remained below 15% for four consecutive days now.
The active caseload has fallen to 15,396. Recoveries continue to outnumber fresh cases, and 2,332 people were considered to have recovered on the day.
Seven health workers tested positive on Sunday. Vengola recorded the highest number of cases with 63 people testing positive from the area. Elamkunnapuzha recorded 54 cases, Nayarambalam 47 cases, Thripunithura 38, Keezhmad 36, Edathala and Kumbalangi 30 each, Palluruthy 27, and Fort Kochi 26.
As many as 41,463 people remain in quarantine. While 353 people were discharged from hospitals and other treatment centres, 154 were admitted on the day.
A total of 3,219 people tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in Ernakulam on Saturday.
The test positivity rate stands at 24.1% and 13,307 tests were done. The district’s active caseload has fallen to 45,405. The figure was at 68,357 on May 16, roughly a week ago.
Sreemoolanagaram recorded the highest number of new cases with 113 people testing positive, followed by Thrikkakara with 107 and Thripunithura with 80 new cases. Palluruthy registered 78 new cases, Kumbalangi 68, Payipra 67, Udayamperoor 63, Fort Kochi 62, Choornikkara and Mulavukad 61 each, and Mattancherry 60. Nine health workers, one police officer and two CISF personnel have tested positive.
Recoveries outnumbered fresh cases on Saturday, when 8,296 people were considered to have recovered. While 332 people were newly admitted to hospitals and other treatment centres, 233 people were discharged.

District records 2,315 new COVID-19 cases, 14,900 recoveries Ernakulam recorded a total of 2,315 new COVID-19 cases and test positivity rate of 24.75% on Monday, when testing fell to 9,354 samples.
A total of 14,900 people were considered to have recovered on Monday, a figure that is more than six times the number of new cases reported on the day. Officials in the district surveillance unit attributed the high number of recoveries to a data entry backlog that was cleared on Monday. Consequently, the district’s active caseload has dropped to 55,749.
