Water Security for All index cited this troubled, insecure nation as one of the world’s 37 ‘hot-spots.’ In practical terms, this means that the country simultaneously faces high water scarcity and low water services – an unenviable combination, and one that makes it especially vulnerable to climate shocks and extreme weather events.
Against this backdrop, UNICEF Afghanistan is working with the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) to address these challenges in a sustainable, cost-effective and efficient way.
