The Knoxville Softball Squad scored its second win over a Little Hawkeye Conference opponent in a week’s time with an 8-4 victory over Newton on Friday. Brittany Bacorn had the big bat as she clubbed two home runs and went 2/3 at the plate with four RBI. Ciara Heffron got the win in the circle going the distance scattering six hits allowing four runs while striking out three and issuing three walks. The Panthers are now 2-2 on the season and will travel to Centerville today.
The Knoxville Softball Squad will try to win its second straight game over a Little Hawkeye Conference opponent tonight when the Panthers host Newton. Knoxville beat Oskaloosa in its home opener on Tuesday in dramatic fashion, coming back from three runs down in the bottom of the 7th inning to steal the win. Knoxville is coming off a 7-3 setback to Davis County on Wednesday night in the South Central Conference opener as the Panthers committed five errors in that game. Newton is 2-1 on the season with wins over Grandview Christian and Marshalltown and most recently a loss to Ankeny Centennial.
