On Thursday, RDCO staff set up an information table at Kalamoir Park in West Kelowna to inform park users about the efforts underway to reduce the fire risk.
Firefighters eventually stopped the blaze when it was a mere 50 feet from several homes but not before the fire had grown to 250 feet by 75 feet in size.
According to the Kelowna Fire Department, numerous calls about the fire were received at around 7:30 p.m. Monday. The cause of the fire is undetermined.
The Knox Mountain wildfire in Kelowna grew quickly after it was reported Saturday afternoon, spreading to two hectares and then 6.5 ha before crews got the upper hand.
