On February 4, 2021, at approximately 6:51 P.M, Troopers with Kentucky State Police, Post 13, Hazard, responded to a two-vehicle collision in the Brinkley Community of Knott Co. Initial investigation indicates that Willis Handshoe, 47, of Leburn, was operating a 2006 GMC Sierra, northbound on KY-160, when he crossed the center line into the southbound lane, colliding with a Gold 1999 Ford passenger car being operated by Amanda Brown, 40, of Brinkley. The Knott Co Coroner’s Office pronounced Brown deceased at the scene. A passenger with Brown, Delana Caudill, 60, of Brinkley, was airlifted to Johnson City Medical Center to be treated for her injuries, where she is listed in stable condition. Handshoe was transported to Hazard ARH to be treated for minor injuries. Toxicology results are pending at this time. This collision was reconstructed and is still under investigation by Trooper Jarret Fields.
