We had people at the mall within minutes. They just escorted us out, told us to keep low, women and children first, the whole standard procedure. State crews brought in 3,500 of these sandbag, built some so called chimneys to protect the levee from erosion from beneath. The idea here is that this is a temporary fix for a 82yearold problem here.
Sophia is still a healthy young girl whos thriving. Reporter sophia jarvis, like any 4yearold goes to preschool, and dance lessons. But one of her arms hangs limp. This berkely family describes an ordeal that started two years ago. Sophia was having trouble breathing. Over the course of three days, she wasnt using her left arm. An apparent virus, extremely rare had attacked her spinal cord. About the size of your pinky, i guess. Its pretty delicate piece of machinery. So, when things happen, i think it happens pretty fast. Reporter sophia is the youngest of five bay area children stricken. The oldest, 17. One of them has lost the use of all four limbs. Its serious. If youre affected. But the odds of being affected are extremely, extremely unlikely. Reporter those tracking the disease admit, they dont know how it spread, theres no warning, and no treatment.
