CHENNAI: The Madras High Court on Friday granted anticipatory bail to DMK Principal Secretary KN Nehru in a case pertaining to a video, which purportedly shows the MLA bribing voters during campaign for the recently concluded Assembly polls.
According to the petitioner, the allegations levelled against him are false, and no such incident as shown in the video took place. “I am a law-abiding citizen and will not evade the due process of law. I will also abide by any condition if bail is granted,” he contended.

The ruling AIADMK on Monday urged the Chief Electoral Officer to cancel the candidature of DMK president M K Stalin and four others of his party for the April 6 Assembly polls, alleging distribution of cash to voters. Associates of Stalin, who is contesting from Kolathur constituency here have been distributing a sum of Rs 5,000 to voters, party s joint secretary of the advocate s wing, R M Babu Murugavel alleged in a petition to the CEO, Tamil Nadu, Satyabrata Sahoo.
Stalin released the list of all 173 candidates for the elections, retaining most sitting MLAs including seniors Durai Murugan, K N Nehru, K Ponmudi and MRK Panneerselvam all former ministers, besides others.

DMK principal secretary K.N. Nehru has moved the Madras High Court seeking a direction to the Election Commission of India (ECI) and Tamil Nadu’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) to furnish an Assembly constituency-wise list of voters aged above 80 and physically challenged persons, who had been categorised as ‘absentee voters’ and permitted to cast their votes through postal ballot.
