Cognizant Foundation, Rotary Club set up facility The Cognizant Foundation and the Rotary Club of Madras East Trust have set up a 40-bed COVID-19 care ward at the Voluntary Health Services Hospital (VHS) here. The Foundation is the CSR arm of the IT major. M. Srinivasa Rao, president-elect of RCME, handed over the ward to VHS on Saturday. S. Suresh, honorary secretary, and Yuvraj Gupta, director and chief operating officer of VHS, were present. The new facility has been set up at a cost of ₹1.11 crore and is equipped with oxygenated beds and medical infrastructure to provide critical care. The ward is part of “Cognizant C3” initiative, the company s COVID-19 response framework.

‘Doctors and nurses should boost the morale of patients’ Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas (Alla Nani) has directed doctors to work with dedication to provide better services to COVID-19 patients. The Health Minister held a review meet along with district in-charge Minister K. Kannababu, Tourism Minister M. Srinivasa Rao, Special Officer G. Sai Prasad, Joint Collectors M. Venugopal Reddy and P. Arun Babu and medical officers at the KGH on Friday. He said that a nodal officer each should be appointed for oxygen and bed management at the COVID hospitals. The doctors and nurses should keep a check on the health of patients and boost their morale. He directed KGH Superintendent Mythili to monitor the work of the doctors and staff through CC cameras. Measures should be taken to ensure that oxygen was not wasted, he said.

People are rushing to Government Hospitals, Area Hospitals, and Primary Health Care Centers in the district for Covid tests. For the Covid tests, more than 100 centers are collecting samples. At the Joint Collector s office in the Krishna district, Joint Collector L Siva Sankar held a review meeting with officials on the Covid cases, hospital, and lab maintenance, and other Covid-related issues on Wednesday. He said the district administration has established a 104 call center to provide suggestions and other services to Covid patients.
