IAS officer Sriram Venkitaraman had approached the apex court in July this year, after the Kerala High Court overturned a sessions court ruling that absolved him of the homicide charge.
The High Court was of the prima facie view that the IAS officer was overspeeding at the time of the accident that resulted in the death of a journalist and that he tried to destroy evidence.
However, the High Court upheld the order of the Session Court discharging him under Section 184, 185 of Motor Vehicles Act and 3(1)(2) of Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
