Forecast: Energy consumption likely to fall to record low in 2023. Associations assume that companies and households in Germany will consume significantly less electricity and heat this year. This should reduce CO₂ emissions – but it does not bode well for the economic situation. Compared to the previous year, the Working Group on Energy Balances expects a decline of almost eight percent to 10,784 petajoules, which corresponds to 2996 terawatt hours. This would mean that consumption would be almost 28 percent below the previous high of 14,905 petaj Joules in 1990.
The gas storage facilities exceed the filling level specification at the beginning of the month. For the rest of the year, it is still important to save energy.
