Caltrans press release:
Two contractors and a Caltrans employee were injured today when a tree fell during removal and slide prevention work at Last Chance Grade on U.S. 101 near Crescent City. The workers were transported to a local hospital.
Motorists were not driving in the construction zone when this incident occurred, and Caltrans traffic spotters and flaggers will continue to conduct 24-hour surveillance of the area until work is completed.
The health and safety of the traveling public, department employees, and its contracting partners remains Caltrans’ top priority, and Caltrans is cooperating fully with Cal/OSHA on its investigation.
