East London boffin brings back silver medal from Chinese science fair

East London’s young innovator Kiyara Swartbooi earned a silver medal at the 43rd Beijing Youth Science Fair which was held in China over the Easter holidays. She won for her project, “Thermal Facet: A Smart Water Management System”, which aids the visually impaired who have hearing difficulties and helps them conserve water by letting them know when their bathtubs have filled up.
