Covid cases remain low in Northumberland

No further deaths have been confirmed in relation to Covid-19 in the latest 24 hour period in Northumbria Healthcare hospitals. The news means the death toll since the start of the pandemic in the region’s hospitals remains at 727. In Northumberland, just six new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in the latest figures released by the government. This means the total number of Covid cases since the pandemic began in the county now stands at 17,476. Only two wards in Northumberland have five or more positive cases in the latest daily figures released by the County Council, with Kitty Brewster (six) and Plessey (five) the only wards to feature.

The covid-related death toll in the region’s hospitals remains at 727 since last March. Across Northumberland, there have now been 17,457 positive tests of Coronavirus, meaning that there were 10 new cases recorded yesterday (Thursday). Bedlington Central and Kitty Brewster are the only wards in Northumberland to have recorded more than 5 cases over the last week. All wards in Ponteland and the Tyne Valley have recorded between 0 and 4 positive Coronavirus cases during that time. The percentage of over 45s who have received their first does of the Coronavirus vaccine in Northumberland is 91.7 per cent according to figures from the Office of National Statistics.
