The Bangkok Mass Transit System Plc (BTSC) has postponed test-run plans for the Pink and Yellow Line extensions following the temporary closure of construction worker campsites across the city to curb Covid-19 transmissions.
Surapong Laoha-unya, CEO of the BTSC, on Wednesdy said construction work on the Pink Line s Khae Rai-Min Buri section and the Yellow Line s Lat Phrao-Samrong section were 70-80% complete.
Only minor work, such as electrical system installation and fittings, remained unfinished.
Originally, the 30-kilometre Yellow Line was to open by year s end and the 34.5-kilometre Pink Line was expected to be running around March or April next year.

The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) on Monday reiterated its promise to minimise the impact of the construction of the Purple Line rail project on the premises of the centuries old Wat Iam Woranuch.
Kittikorn Tanpao, deputy governor of the MRTA, said while some structures on the temple grounds could be affected by the construction project, the 237-year-old chapel and pagoda would not be demolished.
He said the bidding process for the Purple Line is not taking place, so talks are still going on. He noted that it is the Ministry of Transport s decision that the chapel and pagoda must not be appropriated and demolished.

Bidding for the construction of the western section of the MRT s Orange Line, which will run from the Thailand Cultural Centre to Bang Khun Non, has been cancelled following a legal dispute.
The decision was taken yesterday by the contractor selection committee of the Mass Rapid Transit Authority (MRTA), the project owner.
The MRTA said it had indefinitely postponed the process to pick a contractor because the dispute on the bidding criteria was still far from resolved.
The western section of the Orange Line was designed to run underground for 13.4 kilometres to link the centre of Bangkok to the capital s western suburbs.

Bidding has been cancelled for the western section of the Orange Line in Bangkok, running from the Thailand Cultural Centre to Bang Khun Non area, after a legal dispute over bid criteria.
The contractor selection committee of the Bangkok’s east-west electric railway project made the decision on Wednesday.
The Mass Rapid Transit Authority, the project owner, said that a legal dispute on the project was no closer to resolution and thus blocked it from setting a timeframe for the selection of the contractor. That could delay the selection and affect the whole Orange Line.
