Rail traffic was disrupted for about an hour on Friday evening after two wheels of a wagon of a goods train derailed at Satrod railway station, officials said.
West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose has suggested starting a peace train between Sealdah station in Kolkata and New Jalpaiguri station in North Bengal, citing the violence and corruption in the region. The suggestion was made at a foundation-laying program for the redevelopment of 508 railway stations across the country via video conference with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Bose also recommended starting a Kisan Express and Culture on Wheels trains from Bengal.
While speaking at the programme in Sealdah station organised by the Railways, the Bengal Governor referred to "violence and corruption" marring Bengal and urged the Prime Minister to request Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to start a peace train from Sealdah station in Kolkata to New Jalpaiguri Station in North Bengal.
