AMBULANCE workers in the West Midlands have won the right to full sick pay while self-isolating after a GMB campaign. Official NHS guidance states that staff should be paid in full, including average overtime, while off work to avoid transmitting coronavirus. But until now, workers at West Midlands Ambulance Service had to scrape by on limited sick pay during periods of self-isolation. They will now receive an average of their overtime earnings as well. Payments will be backdated to the start of the pandemic in February 2020 after a fightback by members of the general union.
